So true, diane! Lovely to see you stop by. Admittedly, I quite like marching to the beat of a different drum. I'd rather be the way I am than not. :)

Today I had my faith in human nature renewed a little by a new contributor to the magazine that very graciously linked to us in her newsletter, so we can now make that a grand total of three. :)

I absolutely agree, Kay! It takes very little effort to be courteous, but I find that the smile on people's faces and the gratitude it brings out in many people, is worth the effort even on days where I feel I have nothing left in me. All we can do is hope our example is paid forward.

Always a pleasure to be there, Fergal. I just do what I can when I can. Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you liked the review. It was just another way to say thanks for having such a great community. It's been great to see it go from strength to strength.

Kay, thank you very much for your kind and generous review of http://www.businessadviceforum.com. You were obviously too modest to mention your own significant contribution to our community, which has played no small part in helping us to grow and help members.

I know, it was an incredible sight. Today we're under a high winds warning which has been in place since 3am. Now we have giant branches falling hundreds of feet that were caught in amongst others, so it's not safe to be outside. One hit the house in the early hours and literally shook our bedroom. Luckily it bounced off rather than went through it but some of the limbs that have came down through the night are about twenty feet long and eighteen inches in diameter. When you look up at a tree so high, you don't realize how large they actually are until they fall.

We bought a chainsaw too which Mike's been wielding. I swear I could feel the testosterone surging through my veins just by opening the box. ;)

ETA And just as I posted this, something clattered down outside on the shed with a big thud.

wow, Kay! those pictures are amazing! It's insane to see something so beautiful, like the icicles on the trees and powerlines, and know that it is so destructive.
Please stay safe!!

Exactly, pendelton and thanks for the comment. Apathy and denial are huge problems in and of themselves. If you can't get people to gear themselves up for action instead of covering their eyes, what can you do?

All I can see right now to do is to put the thought in their heads front and center by writing about it like this. If just one person does something different, then it was worth it.

The article is spot on, Kay, but getting people to be proactive instead of hiding away in their caves is a problem in, and of, itself.

Methods for making this crisis less of a problem abound, if people would just think. It is easier for people to hide away and pretend that nothing will get to them, till it is too late.
