Ubuntu Education Fund charity gala went down earlier this year. Ubuntu Fund organized the fundraiser, and it was held in London where more than 300 well-known philanthropists and socialites attended. Andrew Rolfe treated the guests throughout the night on behalf of the Ubuntu fund as they sought to raise the targeted amount of $972,960. The amount that was raised during the eventful night was £603,000, which surpassed the amount set by the organizers. The money raised by the well-wishers will be channeled to the Ubuntu fund where it will benefit Port Elizabeth campus in South Africa.
Ubuntu Fund has been supporting more than 400,000 disadvantaged children in South Africa where they are given access to education and improved health care. Other projects that Ubuntu seeks to help with the money include a pediatric clinic that is also part of the school’s campus. Ubuntu has been helping these children from the point when they join the school until that time where they can stand on their own feet.
Ubuntu Fund was founded in 1999 as a small charity organization where the founders began supplying the needy children with books, notebooks, and pencils. With time, the founders realized that these children needed more than just books and pencils for learning purposes. Jacob and Banks, the founders of Ubuntu fund expanded their outreach to include other aspects such as hunger management for the affected children, their home life, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. With increased support, the fund is now able to promote household stability for these children and their parents and ensure that they receive proper education and health throughout their school life. Currently, each of the children supported by the fund can begin school on time. Notably, almost 90% of the children graduate and attend universities of their choice.
