Thousands of prisons and jails in North America will soon be safer thanks to a new technology recently tested by the leading prison technology company, Securus Technologies. The Dallas, Texas-based company recently completed an 18-month trial of its new drone detection technology. The results show that the technology is not only viable but works better than expected, although tweaks will continue to be made.
The technology uses a system that is similar to the Digital Antennae Structure the company uses in its Wireless Containment technology. That technology is used to detect cellular phones in prisons and block the data and communications capability of those illegal phones. Drones have increasingly been used by criminals to introduce illegal contraband into prison facilities. With this technology Securus can help those facilities be safer to both inmates and the employees of the prisons.
The company is also coming off a great 2017. Their customer service department was recognized with three Stevie Awards at the 11th Annual Stevie Awards banquet held in February. They received the highest honor, a Gold Stevie Award for the Best Customer Service Training Department category. The company operates a U.S.-based customer service center in Atlanta that employees around 300 full-time employees. The company provides a number of technology-based solutions to over 3,500 government agencies in the law enforcement and corrections space.
